The Guppy Road (Taradale) loop takes in Waitangi Regional Park, Coastal and River Trails (Hawkes Bay Trails), via Pakowhai, Whakatu and Clive.

Long Ride: Guppy Rd – River Bank Trail – Waitangi Park – River Trail – Pakowhai Country Park – Ruahapia Rd – Whakatu Cycle Trail – Fire Station Café- Clive – Waitangi Park – Guppy Rd Est Distance 40 kms

Short Ride: Guppy Rd – Waitangi Park – Clive – Fire Station Café – Clive – Guppy Rd
Est Distance 30 kms

Hazards: Industrial traffic in Whakatu. State Highway 2 (Entering Clive).

Since the closure of this road it has become the “must go” place to do burnouts. Unfortunately this activity leads to shedding fine tyre wire all over the road. The small shards of wire are generally not visible. This activity is the main cause of bicycle punctures, more so than glass. Suggest using alternate Pathway alongside Te Ara Kahikatea between Pakowhai Road and the trail alongside Otene Road. ***
