A new loop route for the E-bike Social Riders Hawkes Bay, starting from Clive and going to Havelock North. The forecast was fine but with strong WSW winds gusting between 31 and 39 kph. The first 25 kms proved to be tough in the head winds. No time to stop to take photos of the beautiful countryside as the focus was on moving forward. We also had roadworks to contend with. This interesting ride will have to be revisited on a less windy day. Distance 36 kms.

Return ride 28th January 2020. Shorter ride Hastings – Havelock North via Mutiny Road (including Endsleigh Road Loop) 36kms

Route: Clive – Whakatu – Kenilworth Rd – Caroline Rd – Frederick St – Grove Rd – Windsor Ave – Havelock Rd – St Georges Rd – Mt Erin Road – Crystall Rd – Stock Rd – Mutiny Rd – Middle Rd – Endsleigh Loop – (Iona Rd Option) – Havelock CBD –  Karamu Stream Track – to Crosses Rd – Napier Rd to BMX Track – Pathway to Te Mata Rd – River Rd – Black Bridge – Clive. (55.5 kms)

Shorter Ride Options – Kenilworth Rd – As above to School Rd – Middle Rd – Return Crosses Rd – Aida St – Windsor Ave – Fredrick – Caroline Rd – Kenilworth. (Distance 25 to 36 Kms)

Additional Hazards: Open speed limits on Middle Rd. City traffic.
