The car journey to cloudy Taupo from sunny Hawkes Bay took longer than usual due to numerous sections of roadworks. The group of 13 Ebike Social Riders Hawkes Bay riders had an extra a rider from Taupo. We met up at Five Mile Bay and cycled to Acacia Bay. Distance approx. 45/50kms.

The trail is in good condition. Some places are narrow and bendy so keeping an eye out for others is required. There are places to stop for refreshments and plenty of lake side picnic sites and public toilets.

An away day ride around Taupo starting from 5 Mile Bay, Lake Taupo at 10:00 am. to the end of Acacia Bay Rd.
Route – 5 Mile Bay Car Park – Shared Pathway to Taupo – Tongariro St – Victoria Cafe – Tongaririo St – Ferry Rd – Redoubt St – Waiiraki Drive – Norman smith St – Acacia Bay Rd tpo the start of the private road. U turn return down Watchman Rd to Taupo – 5 Mile Bay .
Coffee Stop – late Morning Victorias Tongariro St and Afternoon Two Mile Bay Sailing Club.
