“Day 3. The Otago Rail Trail: Very foggy start, Perrine and I chose to wear shorts and sandals for which we paid with freezing feet until our coffee stop at Ranfurly when the sun appeared.

Ranfurly is the Art Deco town of the South, very quaint and interesting. Here we heard The Waipiata Hotel was closed as a ‘place of interest’!! So a BBQ was organised at our accommodation at Peter’s Farm Lodge.” – Pippi

NB The South Island Tour occurred during New Zealand’s covid-19 (Omicron) outbreak and restrictions were in place, under the Covid-19 Protection Framework (traffic light system)(RED).

In March 2022, a group from Ebike Social Riders Hawkes Bay, embarked on a tour of New Zealand’s South Island. The tour was devised by Charlie and Robyn Davey, aided by others from the group. Pippi Wells, a rider in the group along with others, have graciously allowed me to use their Facebook posts to recount the trip.
