This loop ride takes in not only the wine growing area called Gimblett Gravels, but you can view other crops growing in the fertile Hawkes Bay Heretaunga Plains, such as corn, apples, onions and asparagus depending on the season.

There are multiple points where you can begin the Water Ride out to Bayview. You can choose to do the complete Water Ride starting from Park Island, or you may choose to start from Ahuriri. The return ride is from Bayview along the Coastal Path. This is a flat ride, and the scene is forever changing, so keep an eye out for something new. Stay clear after heavy rain. For e bike riders who are used to riding along the flat pathways of the Hawkes Bay Trails, the Te Mata Peak climb can be challenging. Learning how to use your gears and adjust for pedal assist power are great skills. It is all worthy of achieving. Not only are the views amazing from the top of the Peak, you can also experience the thrill of the long downhill. Rewards for the long steady climb upwards. Est Distance: 35 kms

This is another one of the E-bike Social Riders Hawkes Bay on-road, super loop, hilly rides, so be sure to start with your battery fully charged. This eBike loop ride from the Taradale Rugby Club, Guppy Road, (with an option to start from Puketapu Pub) to Apley Road via Dartmoor Road and beyond has stunning views, great downhills and a well-deserved coffee/lunch stop. Majestic snow covered ranges to see in the winter. This will test your skills changing gears to take in the ups and downs. Very rewarding. A great ride to do in spring and autumn.
If you have not yet attempted riding uphill and learnt how to use the gears and power on your e.bike, then getting some practice in before doing this ride is strongly advised.

We started this 43km Tukituki Valley eBike loop ride from beside the Clive River at the Evers-Swindell Reserve carpark on a fine autumn day.
To see: orchards, farmland, wetlands, vineyards, great views of Te Mata Peak. Undulating hills. Requires a fully charged battery and some hill riding experience.
Continue readingThis mostly off-road e-bike loop ride starting from Waitangi Regional Park on the coast, follows the banks of the Ngaruroro River alongside very productive farmland, past Pakowhai Regional Park up to Fernhill. From there it’s a long country road (Swamp Road) to Puketapu. The return off-road route is along the Tutaekuri River via Awatoto, along the Hawkes Bay Trails.
Distance 46kms. The long shared pathway tracts alongside river banks, orchards and vineyards. There is one section along a country road that does not have a cycle lane. Cafe: Puketapu Pub
