Park Island to Bayview via hills

The route from Park Island to Bayview via the hills, is a good way to not only test your fitness, it also gives you an opportunity to test out your gear changing and getting the best out of your e bike’s power levels. There are several hills and one hilltop with wonderful views out to sea. And then there are the amazing downhills if you are a speed hound. The roads are usually quiet but you may come across the odd logging truck. Be sure to keep over to the left.

Water Ride to Bayview

There are multiple points where you can begin the Water Ride out to Bayview. You can choose to do the complete Water Ride starting from Park Island, or you may choose to start from Ahuriri. The return ride is from Bayview along the Coastal Path. This is a flat ride, and the scene is forever changing, so keep an eye out for something new. Stay clear after heavy rain. Be sure to check the tides to ensure access under the road bridges if riding from Park Island. Est. distance: 45kms

Dartmoor Rd – Apley Rd Loop

This is another one of the E-bike Social Riders Hawkes Bay on-road, super loop, hilly rides, so be sure to start with your battery fully charged. This eBike loop ride from the Taradale Rugby Club, Guppy Road, (with an option to start from Puketapu Pub) to Apley Road via Dartmoor Road and beyond has stunning views, great downhills and a well-deserved coffee/lunch stop. Majestic snow covered ranges to see in the winter. This will test your skills changing gears to take in the ups and downs. Very rewarding. A great ride to do in spring and autumn.

If you have not yet attempted riding uphill and learnt how to use the gears and power on your e.bike, then getting some practice in before doing this ride is strongly advised.
