If you enjoy quiet country road and hills with beautiful scenery, then the Ohiti Road – Crownthorpe Loop is a must. Be sure to start with a fully charged battery as the hills are quite steep. There are vast vineyards mostly owned by Delegat Wines (one of New Zealand’s largest family owned and managed winemakers producing super-premium NZ wines for over 50 years), as well as farmland, orchards and rolling hills. The route from Park Island to Bayview via the hills, is a good way to not only test your fitness, it also gives you an opportunity to test out your gear changing and getting the best out of your e bike’s power levels. There are several hills and one hilltop with wonderful views out to sea. And then there are the amazing downhills if you are a speed hound. The roads are usually quiet but you may come across the odd logging truck. Be sure to keep over to the left.
